Wimbledon Number One Court

Alongside Centre Court, Number One Court is the other main showcourt hosting the top players every year during the Wimbledon Championships.

This stunning bowl tennis stadium has also played host to several UK home Davis Cup fixtures and the 2012 Olympic Games. The four story structure includes shops, restaurants and hospitality facilities.

History

The current ‘Court One’ was built in 1997 to increase spectator capacity over the previous site which held just 7300 people. Its situation, sunk into the hillside due north of Centre Court, replaced the previous Western location.

Capacity

The stadium holds 11,429 spectators and is the 21st largest tennis arena in the world. By comparison, Centre Court fits 15,000 fans.

Future

The Wimbledon organisers announced in 2013 that 2019 had been earmarked for completion of a new retractable roof to allow uninterrupted play. New hospitality facilities will replace the temporary ones at the south of the grounds.
